We will show you how to plan out your week of fun and how to find where all the interesting stuff is at including where all the secret parties are. SXSW is known for throwing official parties but there are also attendees who throw the unofficial secret parties that have some awesome swag and people there. This is your chance to Turbo charge your networking skills and get the most out of an awesome experience.
Free Swag, Food, and Fun
SXSW is known for having lots of free swag at events, free food all over the place, and special activites and events all throughout the city so you do not want to miss out on all these amazing opportunities. In order to find out about all the fun happening you need to understand how SXSW is structured before you just show up. Everyday during the SXSW festival there are exciting opportunities around downtown that can only be found in certain ways.
There are special events that will have lots of free swag for you to take home along with activities that anyone can take part in that you can also share with your friends. You will have the chance to meet some great companies and take part in some unique events.
Walking around Downtown Austin
This tour will involve lots of walking around the downtown area. The reason for that is SXSW brings in a lot of unofficial companies and events that work off of the crowds that are paying to be there. We will teach you how to spot people that are giving out infromation for special unannounced events and how to find the free stuff.
The reason why this tour involves so much walking is because you will learn how the unofficial events are structured providing a richer experience than sticking to just a rigid schedule. If you take a bus or shuttle you will miss out on pop-up events that happen with no announcements.
In order for people to get a great experience out of this we plan to limit the size of the group to just around 15 to 20 people. We want people to be able to move about freely but also not have a large group size that keeps us from being able to get around easily. If you want to learn how to get the most out of an amazing experience then make sure to sign up.
Sign up for a daily tour that meets your schedule needs. You can pick a day and sign up for a tour of that day. We will meet downtown in the morning and teach you what all you need to do to get the most out of each day.
Be sure to visit our website to learn more about us and the other types of tours we provide around Austin.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
You must be at least 21 years of age in order to attend this event since there will be some events that will be serving alcohol. If you are 18 then you can attend this tour during the day but will be unable to attend events after 9 pm.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
It is recommended that you have someone drop you off downtown where we will be meeting. Parking will be a nightmare and it will be difficult to get around by car. You can ride the bus in or get a hotel within walking distance or crash at a friend's place nearby.
Where do we meet?
Our group will meet in front of the Austin Convention center on the corner of Cesar Chavez and Trinity each day of the tour.
What is the duration of the tour?
The dates and times are listed on our page so you can decide if you want to attend the whole tour or if you want to attend single day tours.
Is there a schedule that I can see before signing up for the tour?
We do not offer a structure to our schedule because of how fluid SXSW is. Things come and go and because of that we are always moving around to different events based on what people are talking about and doing. You can find the official schedule of SXSW at their website.
What can I bring into the event?
Bring a nice light backpack because you will be storing a lot of swag and stuff in it. Make sure to have good walking shoes on and have a heavy duty water bottle on hand. Bring sunscreen and a little first aid kit that has Pepto or Tums tablets.
