Gil Del Bosque is a professional saxophonist, composer, and educator based in Austin, Texas. He performs on saxophones, woodwinds, and electric wind synthesizer and is known for his versatility across jazz, classical, Motown, blues, Tejano, salsa, merengue, and popular styles.
Del Bosque leads the Gil Del Bosque Quartet, a modern jazz ensemble with a long-running residency at the Elephant Room and recipient of support from the Austin Live Music Fund (2024). He is also the saxophonist and horn arranger for The Matchmaker Band, a Motown and soul ensemble.
As an educator, Del Bosque works with the Austin Jazz Workshop, presenting school programs and hosting youth jam sessions, while maintaining a private studio of more than 40 weekly saxophone and clarinet students. He has been a featured performer at the Elephant Room, Monks Jazz Club, Parker Jazz Club, and the Austin Jazz Society, and has appeared internationally at the Festival Internacional de Jazz Armando Núñez Portillo. His clinic credits include El Paso Community College, the University of North Alabama, and the Chihuahua 4 Festival de Jazz.
Del Bosque has recorded extensively with Austin-based musicians, including pianist Adrian Ruiz and trumpet player Pete Rodriguez.
He holds a Master of Music in Jazz Performance from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance from the University of North Texas. In 2026, he will release two albums: Pulse, an electric project, and The Sound of Resistance, an acoustic recording made possible with support from the Austin Live Music Fund.
