Fight For Our Schools

Dan Patrick's Commission on Public School Finance met in Austin today to study our disastrous school finance system. Lucky for them, just down the road, I was releasing my report, The Great Texas Property Tax Swindle, that shows Texans once and for all that the state, not school districts, caused our property taxes to skyrocket. No longer can Dan Patrick and his apologists fake it and blame our local school districts and our teachers for the state's failure to do its job. The commission wanted numbers. Now they’ve got ‘em!

On March 19, the Texas Commission on Public School Finance will have it’s only public comment hearing - and I am going to be there. State leaders have time and time again attempted to hide from the truth, but together on March 19 we will hold them accountable. That is why I am calling on every educator, every parent, and every friend of public education in the state to join me in Austin on March 19 and demand that state leaders start telling the truth and do right by our schools.

This is not about party or politics. This is about the 5 million kids that are counting on us to fulfill our solemn promise of providing a first class education.

I hope you will join me and share this event with your friends and family.
