The Austin ISD Summer Theatre Series is proud to present Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! Based on the beloved novel by Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory features a dazzling score by Grammy and Tony Award-winning songwriters Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray), with a book by internationally acclaimed playwright David Greig. The show also pays tribute to the iconic 1971 film with beloved songs by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley, including “Candy Man,” “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket,” “Oompa Loompa Song,” and “Pure Imagination.”
The world-famous Willy Wonka is opening the gates to his mysterious chocolate factory—but only to a lucky few. Young Charlie Bucket and four other golden ticket winners embark on a life-changing adventure through a world of pure imagination, featuring chocolate waterfalls, nutty squirrels, the great glass elevator, and more—guided by Wonka’s curious team of Oompa-Loompas.
