Join LLILAS for a night of sonidero-style cumbia with Mexican writer, composer, and performer Julián Herbert.

A sonidero is a vibrant, community-based dance tradition rooted in Mexican and Latino urban culture, centered on powerful mobile sound systems and charismatic DJs known as sonideros. These DJs spin cumbia and other tropical rhythms, offer personalized shout-outs to the crowd, and create a participatory atmosphere that blends music, dance, and neighborhood identity. More than just a party, a sonidero is a social gathering that fosters connection, cultural pride, and collective celebration.

Traditional Peruvian appetizers from Lima Criolla. Dancing highly encouraged.
