THURSDAY, JUNE 25: - "The Art of Tatting" by Megan Sharp: Megan Sharp, Curator of the Stuhr Museum, will demonstrate the art of tatting. Tatting is a very old needlework skill that was often used to make edging for handkerchiefs, table runners, clothing and more. It requires only minimal tools and makes lovely lace patterns. There will also be an opportunity for those watching to make their own sample of the technique! - "Quilting, Up Close" by the Nimble Thimble Quilt Guild All attendees at the Quilt Show are invited to participate in a real quilting bee! Learn the basic steps in hand quilting and try it for yourself on a quilt frame, just as our grandmothers did! If you would also like to try your hand at machine quilting, our guild members will be there to help you make your first quilt block. FRIDAY, JUNE 26: - "The Art of Spinning" by Kathryn Larson: Ever wonder how yarn is made? Kathryn Larson, a staff member of the Plainsman Museum, will demonstrate the skill of turning wool into yarn on a spinning wheel. Watch how this fascinating process happens! - "The Art of Weaving" by Kelsey Quandt: See the next step in the creative process of taking yarn and turning it into fabric! Kelsey Quant, owner of The Fiber Mill in Stromsburg, will demonstrate how yarn is used to create useful items by weaving it on a loom. - Quilt of Valor Presentation: Join us AT THE AURORA SQUARE at 7:00 PM for this year's Quilt of Valor presentation.
