- **Event Name**: One Tomato Project
- **Event Start and End Date**: Tue, 09 Jun, 2026 at 03:00 pm – Tue, 09 Jun, 2026 at 05:00 pm (-04:00)
- **Event Description**: Join us for a gardening session about ways to grow some of your own food using the model developed by the University of Maine, Piscataquis County Cooperative Extension, called the One Tomato project.

Why just one tomato? One tomato is not expensive to grow, it's pretty easy, and it can be grown just about anywhere. You can plant your tomato in your garden, in your flowerbed, in a container, a hanging basket, or even on your front lawn. You don't have to be a tomato lover to join in - the goal is to grow some healthy vegetables so try out any vegetable that you like. Growing your own vegetable(s) can also save you some money on your grocery bill.

Whether you are a seasoned gardener or wondering how you could grow some produce to help feed your family, this program is for you!

If tomatoes are not your thing, we also will have some containers and seeds so you could grow spinach, radish, lettuce, and peas in a small box garden. Growing a few vegetables can be easier than you think.

We will have some containers, soil and seedlings, or seeds available to try your hand at growing some of your own food. We will help you build your own container, or you can take a seedling or seeds home with you.

Attendees can put their name in a drawing for an already established & potted vegetable/herb. We also have a limited number of seed packets to give away.
