- **Event Name**: Dual Sculpture Celebration at Phinizy – April 16, 2026
- **Event Start and End Date**: Thu, 16 Apr, 2026 at 02:00 pm (-04:00)
- **Event Description**: The Greater Augusta Arts Council, in partnership with the Phinizy Center for Water Sciences, invites the community to a special dual celebration and official unveiling of two newly installed, accessible public sculptures at Phinizy Nature Park on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.

This unique event will honor both the vibrant “School of Fish” sculpture by artist PK Kordys with his team at Da Vinci Studios, which was installed this past winter, and a newly installed work by artists Wesley L. Stewart and Colleen Beyer-Stewart of September Art Studios. Both pieces were generously funded by the Georgia Rehabilitation Institute, whose continued support helps bring meaningful and accessible public art experiences to the Augusta community.

Set within the scenic landscape of Phinizy Nature Park, these sculptures celebrate the intersection of art, nature, and environmental stewardship. PK Kordys’ “School of Fish” evokes the movement and vitality of aquatic life, reflecting the park’s rich wetland ecosystem. The Stewart artists’ installation complements this vision, offering a thoughtful artistic response to the surrounding natural environment and the importance of conservation. These two sculptures join a growing number of sculptures found within the park.

“We are thrilled to celebrate not just one, but two incredible works of art in a place that so beautifully connects creativity and nature,” said Heather Dunaway, Gallery & Public Art Director with the Greater Augusta Arts Council. “These installations enhance the visitor experience at Phinizy while reinforcing the role that public art plays in inspiring viewer curiosity.”

The celebration ceremony, which will take place in the front parking area, will include brief remarks from project partners, artists, and supporters, followed by an opportunity for attendees to explore the park and seek out the artworks, in what is becoming a thriving public art trail. The public is encouraged to attend and experience these new additions to Augusta’s growing arts collection.
