Join us on Thursday July 4 for the 2nd annual Maine Capital Fourth a festive afternoon of music family fun and community celebration presented by the Augusta Symphony Orchestra in partnership with the Augusta Civic Center.
This indoor air-conditioned event runs from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the Augusta Civic Center so you can leave the bug spray at home and enjoy the festivities rain or shine!
The afternoon kicks off at 3:00 PM with family-friendly activities including an instrument petting zoo where kids can try out musical instruments as well as performances by small ensembles. Full concessions will be available throughout the event.
At 4:00 PM the full Augusta Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Conductor and Music Director Jinwook Park will take the stage. The concert will feature a lively mix of traditional patriotic favorites marches and pops medleys. Joining the ASO for this special performance are guest musicians from the Midcoast Symphony Orchestra and the Colby College Symphony, along with vocalist Jazmin DeRice.
Maestro Park a dedicated music educator and performer is a faculty member at Colby College and Music Director of the Colby Symphony Orchestra. He also co-founded the Kennebec Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra and has led the Augusta Symphony Orchestra since 2021.
Admission is free and donations are gratefully accepted to support the ASO’s mission of making orchestral music accessible to all.
