Ready to take the first step into teaching within the fire service? The North Star Training Fire Instructor 1 Course gives you the knowledge, skills, and confidence to deliver clear, engaging, and effective training to your crew or classroom. Whether you're teaching new recruits or leading department drills, this course sets the foundation for strong, standards-based instruction.

You’ll learn how to:

🔥 Choose the right instructional materials for your audience
🔥 Adapt your teaching style to connect with every student
🔥 Create a productive, low-distraction classroom environment
🔥 Use audiovisual and multimedia tools to enhance learning
🔥 Administer written and practical evaluations
🔥 Grade objectively and provide meaningful, constructive feedback

Hands-on teaching practice, peer interaction, and scenario-based exercises help build real-world confidence and prepare you for immediate use in the field.

Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Sunday: 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Online learning begins mid-February, and must be completed prior to the in-person weekend.

This course is fully eligible for MBFTE reimbursement, making it a cost-effective option for departments across Minnesota.
