Sourdough Bread Baking Class
During the 5 hour class we are going to teach you a simple but versatile sourdough recipe that can be used for loaves, bread rolls, baguette, pizza and more. The class will cover techniques, equipment and ingredients necessary to bake a great loaf of bread. We will also make a wholemeal five grain sourdough.
During the times when we are waiting for the dough to rest and prove you will be learning about the history of grains and bread making and what differentiates artisan and sourdough bread making from commercially produced loaves you find in the supermarket. We will also be talking about the nutritional values of bread and grain based diets and highly controversial issue of gluten in bread.
There will be a coffee and a lunch break during the resting/baking times of the breads and eventually we will finish the class with a bread tasting, and you will get your own starter culture to take home. @ Bread & Butter Bakery and Café.
