Our theme - Iconic Cuban Cars
Dress code - 1950s Vintage – Havana style.
The Classic Cuban cars are a symbol of romance of a bygone era to tourists.
To Cubans, those cars are deeply linked to their culture and identity - and a history of resilience and resourcfulness. After the 1959 revolution - and the subsequent US Trade Embargo- no new cars were imported into Cuba.
The streets became stuck in the 1950s.
Cubans adapted through improvised fixes on existing parts or by creating their own car parts to keep their cars running.
A Classic Car provides a family everyday transportation - but they are also a significant draw for tourists - who use them to see the sights. This helps to support the Cuban economy.
Cuba has been hailed as a moving car museum because of the vintage vehicles still in use on its roads today.
