To celebrate another year of Poetry Live! BRING ANOTHER POET and/or bring and READ ANOTHER POET’S POEM during open mic.  

Do not tell the audience whose poem it is (but tell the emcee, for adjudication purposes). 

WIN A PRIZE - the audience member who correctly guesses the poet the most times will win a prize.

Guest Poet

Kiri Piahana-Wong is a poet, editor and the publisher at Anahera Press. In her early poetry days, Kiri was a keen slam competitor and open mic reader, and she was an MC at Poetry Live! for six years. She is the author of two poetry collections, Night Swimming and Tidelines, and she has edited anthologies of Māori literature and short fiction. Kiri has recently moved back to Tāmaki Makaurau after two years in Whanganui, and she’s excited to return to Poetry Live!

Guest Musician

Also making a return to Poetry Live! singer/songwriter Maria Clara made her PL! debut after I met her at PL and booked her for the following Tuesday. According to her Insta she does covers, originals, and big fluffy hair. The audience from her last appearance will also attest to the simple unadorned beauty of voice and guitar.  You can hear her songs  “Guess” and “Look at the sky!” on Spotify.
