Pacific Futures Conference
The New Zealand Institute of International Affairs is holding its national conference in Auckland this year in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Ministry of Defence and the Pacific Cooperation Foundation.
The conference will focus on the Pacific - the influences shaping its future and some of its biggest challenges.
This conference will be vital for understanding the new dynamics in the Pacific and what these mean for the diplomatic community, the business community, and for Pasifika and New Zealand communities everywhere.
And we look at how youth are stepping into new leadership and economic roles that will help the region diversify and move forwards. They are generating new models of leadership, new business opportunities and a raft of ways to assist their own countries to move forwards.
We hope you will join us for a day of fascinating talks and discussion on four key themes with the keynote address from Rt Hon Winston Peters, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
> PACIFIC RE-SETTING: Economics, Leadership & Youth
> CRIME AND SECURITY IN THE PACIFIC: Expanding Concepts of Security
> CLIMATE CHANGE: Right Here, Right Now
> PACIFIC CONNECTIVITY: Youth, Media and New Opportunities
We have a number of speakers coming from the Pacific as well as many Pacific voices based in New Zealand.
