Accidents and emergencies can happen at any time. Completing this Red Cross first aid course will provide you with the confidence and competence ‘at the scene’ to recognise life threatening situations and to offer vital assistance to the patient before more experienced help arrives. Completion of this first aid course will give you the skills to respond to common first aid response situations and meets NZQA standards and requirements of the “First Aid for Workplaces – A Good Practice Guide 2011”. You will learn:
safe side positioning
scene management of emergency situations
CPR - adult, child and infant
use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
airway obstruction (choking) - adult, child, infant
control of severe bleeding
bleeding, shock and wound care
fractures, sprains and strains
