We will be focusing on skills that are specific to Night SnorkelsAbout this EventThis event is designed to help upskill our assistant and senior snorkel guides for the upcoming season. The target audience of this event is Mountains to Sea Conservation Trust volunteers who are already a snorkel guide and understand how a snorkel day runs. Our focus will be on night snorkel specific skills, and health and safety. Please contact our volunteer coordinator grac@moutainstosea.org.nz to get the code for your tickets. (This is just to ensure you have experience with us). Minimum age is 12 years old and volunteers under the age of 16 years old need to be accompanied by an adult guardian.Mountains to Sea Conservation Trust could not carry out our programmes without the help of our snorkel guides; volunteers like you allow us to connect communities with te taiao. Thank you so much for signing up - we look forward to seeing you get ready for this summer!Schedule:6:30pm - Arrive at Torbay (meet point provided upon registration)6:30pm to 6:45pm - Opening karakia and whakawhanaungatanga6:45pm to 7:00pm - Night snorkel set up and gear overview7:00pm - 7:15pm - Night snorkel breifing7:15pm to 8:30pm - Night snorkel guiding practice and rescue scenarios8:30pm - 9:00pm - Debrief, Evaluations and Closing KarakiaWe will cover the following in the Night Snorkel Training session:Introduction which covers night snorkel specific Health and Safety, volunteer roles, and briefingNight snorkel skillsHow to properly use night snorkel equipment. ie. dive torchesLeading a group: ratios, communications, headcounts etc.Rescue scenariosWe will provide you with all necessary gear and snacks.
