Professional Crisis Management Basic Practitioner Certification Course
Professional Crisis Management Basic Practitioner course is developed by the Professional Crisis Management Association (PCMA).
This course also meets the 6-hour DBHDD crisis intervention training requirement.
Professionals who meet the requirements of this one-day course will be certified as a Basic Practitioner. Basic Practitioners are certified to use only non-physical strategies and are not certified to use any physical strategies. Certification is good for one year at a time, with recertification required annually.
Participants will learn:
The stages of crisis; what causes crisis behaviors; Prevention Strategies; De-Escalation Strategies; and Post-Crisis Strategies.
Course great for: DFCS behavior aides, crisis counseling staff, DBHDD contractors, Clinical staff including social workers, counselors, therapists, mental health professionals, family therapists, child therapists, school counselors, play therapy professionals, group home staff, residential treatment facility staff, or others who work with children and youth (those who are NOT expected to physically intervene during a crisis).
One hour lunch time, on your own. Must score 80% or better on the multiple choice written exam at end of course.
