Kirklees Safe Online Project
A new school session has been designed by the Peace Museum to explore the dangers posed by online grooming, hate crime and radicalisation.
Safe Online will enable children to:
Build awareness around strategies used by perpetrators
Understanding the techniques used online to spread hate messages
Reduce vulnerability to manipulative content
Develop critical thinking skills when engaging with online content
Increase confidence in understanding how to stay safe online
Using real life case studies, the session will inform participants of the risks posed by the internet today, and enable them to build resilience to hate and extremism.
Delivered in your school or group context by an experienced facilitator, the session can be delivered to one class at a time. Sessions last 60 mins and can be delivered at any time during the day.
Safe Online has been developed in partnership with the Prevent Team.
The Peace Museum has delivered Prevent work to thousands of young people, supporting schools, families and communities to work together to protect young people from harm. Their innovative Choices project has been identified as a model of Best Practice by the Prevent team at the Home Office and is now being rolled out across the UK.
