On December 5, Dimensions of Being welcomes a true architect of West Coast dance culture: Galen, the co-founder of the legendary Sunset Sound System, flying in for a rare and intimate Atlanta appearance.
A cornerstone of San Francisco’s underground for decades, Galen stands as one of the great living pillars of the West Coast sound. Through Sunset Sound System, he helped transform a small renegade community into a global movement—drawing the world’s most respected DJs and producers to the Sunset annuals, boat parties, and the iconic Campout Festival. These events set the gold standard for sonic quality, curation, and atmosphere, with Galen at the center of it all.
As a DJ, Galen’s craft is rooted in decades of dedication. His sets—shaped by years of playing vinyl at renegade and warehouse parties throughout the 90s and 2000s—move fluidly through deep acid house, rare disco, and timeless underground cuts. His mixing is assertive, dynamic, and driven by a deep sensitivity to each dancefloor. His studio work mirrors that precision, with releases on labels around the world, including his acclaimed 3-track "Magic Bus" EP on WhatToDo.
Beyond San Francisco, Galen continues to leave his mark globally—touring European festivals each summer, headlining North American institutions like Lightning in a Bottle, and curating boat parties at Love International in Croatia.
