About the event

Brew & Tell: The Chunklet Archives Uncorked. A fundraiser of sorts
Come and marvel in a night of quality beer, sub-par heckling and never before seen material. For the first time ever, the Chunklet archive is being shown in public as a fundraiser for the 501(c)3 Chunklet Music Preservation Project (CMPP).

Confirmed for appearance are:

THE SEX PISTOLS : In January 1978, the Pistols landed in Atlanta and performed their US debut at the Great Southeast Music Hall. One intrepid journalist was Murray Silver, Jr., who took over 100 photos of the band that night. Come and see these images for the first time ever as Chunklet Music Preservation Project's Henry Owings talks with Murray.

RU PAUL AND OPAL FOXX: Chunklet Music Preservation Project board members Lady Clare (from The Now Explosion) and Stephanie Jackson in discussion showing photos from the recently acquired Barbara McKenzie archive. Author of “Flannery O’Connor’s Georgia”, these eye-popping photos are the first glimpse into the early 80s across Atlanta at seedy venues like 688, The Nitery, Celebrity Club, Weekends and more.

NO WAVE CINEMA : “Ecstatic Stigmatic” is a film that’s been lost since the death of producer Gordon Stevenson (Teenage Jesus and the Jerks). The movie stars Arto Lindsay (DNA), Johnny O’Kane and Mirielle Cervenka. Since 1983 it’s been lost to time. Come see restored footage from this no wave classic.

Also:

JERRY LEE LEWIS : In 1957, Jerry Lee Lewis made his television debut on the Steve Allen Show. We came upon a u-matic tape of the performance and had it transferred. Behold five minutes that transformed the world.

MAN…or ASTRO-MAN : Founding drummer Birdstuff (Brian Teasley) takes a deep dive into his vast video archive for the first time ever. The Snak-Zooka will be on display.

MUSIC : Raucous entertainment provided by Ultra Lights & Gentleman Jesse (solo)

FOR SALE: Original artwork by Barbara McKenzie, Marlys Lenz Cox, Murray Silver and more.

AUCTION: Original posters and flyers from R.E.M., The Brains, The Fans, Love Tractor, Pylon and more.

Presented in cooperation with Triple D’s, OK Productions and the Garden Club.
