Atlanta Art - Where to find creative solace in the city?

Atlanta's art is spread over its various museums and art centres. Atlanta's art museums are a great place to start, and you can begin at the High Museum of Art Atlanta. There is a permanent collection which includes more than 15,000 artworks inside the museum.

The atlanta art is centred around seven areas namely - American art, African art, European art, decorative art and design, modern and contemporary art, folk and self-taught art and the last one is photography. You can witness some rare photographs as this was one of the first museums to display pieces from this medium.

There are hundreds of different collections by some of Georgia's best artists. It is a contemporary art museum that acts as a tribute to some of Atlanta's best local artists. There are also contemporary artwork pieces by popular international artists. The work featured dates back to the 1940s with some artwork among the oldest in this form of media.

One of the top art galleries in the city, the Alan Avery Art Company, was founded in 1981 in a downtown warehouse. Located at Miami Circle, this gallery is the oldest sustained gallery for art in the city. It features work from technically proficient and exciting artists in and around the region.

At Huff Harrington art in atlanta, you can witness a widely curated set of paintings by French and American artists in different media and styles. The art gallery also has a "white glove delivery" which includes careful handling and packaging if you're interested in purchasing the artwork at the gallery.

The Woodruff Arts Center is another performing arts centre in Atlanta. It houses three divisions for art that are all non-profit. It was opened in 1969 and is home to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, High Museum of Art and the Alliance Theatre.
