THE ART OF CIRCUIT BENDING
Hardware hacking workshop series for music and visual productions. Composer, improvised performer and music tehnologist Tasos Stamou is inviting you at Plex space for a holistic experience in the area of DIY recreation of electronic devices into tools of creative expression and experimentation with electronics.
Being an experienced workshops leader of similar workshops across Europe, Stamou will share his unique knowledge over the subject through five monthly «episodes» of themed seminars. The complete series will train the participants to the theoritical and technical parts of this practise, as well as the collaborative work for the creation of unique hacked instruments out of recycled material.
Although every workshop can be attended individually, it is strongly recommended that someone joins the whole series for a more complete impression of this very specific subject and for the creation of an emerging workgroup.
Tasos Stamou is a unique figure among the scene of DIY electronics (so called circuit bending). He has developed unique and idiosyncratic techniques of ttransforming simple electronics into more sophisticated instruments by redesigning them. He has crafted hundreds of them and has been leading workshops of DIY music electronics in art & tech venues (WORM Rotterdam, Café OTO / Iklectick London, Frown Tails Athens, Mex Dortmund), festival (Sounds of the Underground Vilnius, Hack the Barbican London, Ural Nights Ekaterinburg, ADAF Athens Digital Arts Festival) and in collaboration with Academies (Ionian University Corfu, Guildhall School of Music London, KHM Cologne, Canterbury Christ Church University).

INTRODUCTION TO THE WORLD OF DIY ELECTRONIC MUSIC INSTRUMENTS
First one of the workshop series will be an introduction of altering electronic devices and will focus on the presentation and (pre)history of the use of DIY electronics in music production, as well as the basic principles of its techniques and tools.
No previous knowledge required. All tools and devices provided. It will be a hands-on experience, where participants will come up to craft their own hacked instruments.
During the second day of the first two-day workshop there will be an educational expedition to the Eleonas flea market, for recycled resources tracking purposes.
