In a small coal-mining town in northern Chile in 1980, locals accuse gay men of spreading an unknown disease that they believe can be transmitted simply by looking deeply into someone’s eyes. Within this climate of fear, prejudice and superstition, a community of trans people who live and work in the area’s only cabaret struggle to survive while bearing the weight of a conservative and phallocratic environment.

A film about love, care and the forms of solidarity that emerge within queer communities but also about their constantly unequal and fragile relationship with the heteronormative world. A work that sheds light on how fear, ignorance and the social construction of threat are directed against bodies and identities that deviate from imposed norms.

Σε μια μικρή πόλη ανθρακορύχων στη βόρεια Χιλή, το 1980, οι ντόπιοι κατηγορούν τους gay άντρες για μια άγνωστη αρρώστια την οποία θεωρούν ότι μπορούν να μεταδώσουν κοιτώντας τους άλλους βαθιά στα μάτια. Μέσα σε αυτό το κλίμα φόβου, προκατάληψης και δεισιδαιμονίας, μια κοινότητα τρανς ατόμων που ζουν και εργάζονται στο μοναδικό καμπαρέ της περιοχής καλείται να επιβιώσει, κουβαλώντας παράλληλα το βάρος ενός συντηρητικού και φαλλοκρατικού περιβάλλοντος.

Μια ταινία για την αγάπη, τη φροντίδα και τις μορφές αλληλεγγύης που αναπτύσσονται μέσα στις queer κοινότητες αλλά και για τη διαρκώς άνιση και εύθραυστη σχέση τους με τον ετεροκανονικό κόσμο. Ένα φιλμ που φωτίζει τον τρόπο με τον οποίο ο φόβος, η άγνοια και η κοινωνική κατασκευή της απειλής στρέφονται ενάντια σε σώματα και ταυτότητες που αποκλίνουν από την κανονικότητα.
