Roma Gallery presents “Christos Oikonomou: L’Infini terrible”, the artist’s first solo exhibition at the gallery. The opening is on Thursday, 18 December 2025, from 19:00 to 21:00, with the artist present. Curated by the art historian Alia Tsagkari, the exhibition brings together more than sixty works on paper created over the past five years, offering a representative view of the artist’s extraordinarily beautiful and provocative representations of the human form. The selected works are shown in conversation with “L’Infini terrible” that terrifies Ophelia’s blue eye in Arthur Rimbaud’s homonymous poem. Signaling the cataclysmic terror of an unlimited, unrepresentable danger that marks the escalation of tension, the “terrible infinite” is identified with the Lacanian Real: a traumatic core of jouissance and bodily dissolution.

Η Roma Gallery παρουσιάζει την έκθεση “Χρήστος Οικονόμου: L’Infini terrible”, την πρώτη ατομική παρουσίαση του καλλιτέχνη στη γκαλερί. Η έκθεση εγκαινιάζεται την Πέμπτη 18 Δεκεμβρίου 2025 και θα διαρκέσει μέχρι και την Τρίτη 13 Ιανουαρίου 2026. Την επιμέλεια υπογράφει η ιστορικός τέχνης Άλια Τσαγκάρη. Η έκθεση συγκεντρώνει ένα ευρύ φάσμα εξήντα και πλέον έργων σε χαρτί που δημιουργήθηκαν την τελευταία πενταετία, συνθέτοντας ένα αντιπροσωπευτικό δείγμα των αλλόκοτα υπέροχων και πολυεπίπεδα διεισδυτικών αναπαραστάσεων του ανθρώπινου σώματος. Τα επιλεγμένα έργα σε χαρτί παρουσιάζονται σε διάλογο με το «L’Infini terrible» που τρομοκρατεί το γαλάζιο μάτι της Οφηλίας στο ομώνυμο ποίημα του Arthur Rimbaud. Δηλώνοντας τον κατακλυσμιαίο τρόμο ενός απεριόριστου, μη αναπαραστάσιμου κινδύνου που σφραγίζει την κλιμάκωση της έντασης, το «τρομερό άπειρο» ταυτίζεται με το λακανικό Πραγματικό ως ένας τραυματικός πυρήνας απόλαυσης και απειλής.
