BioPathways Southeast Ohio

This one-day workshop connects Ohio 6th-12th grade life science teachers with industry professionals and career-ready curriculum.

You're already inspiring students with science. Now discover how to connect that passion to Ohio's $15 billion life sciences industry. Leave equipped with everything needed to show students their future in biotech starts in your classroom.

As a result of taking part in this learning experience, participants will:

Know… protein synthesis, engineering design, protein folding principles, amino acid properties and how their properties determine protein final structure

Understand… how to implement engineering design challenges, apply these understandings to gene therapy, vaccines, and drug development

Be able to… pipette accurately, fold proteins according to chemical structure and amino acid properties, relate activities to current industry career needs

Start in the workshop and:

• do hands-on science
• collaborate with fellow life sciences educators
• use career-focused lessons informed by Ohio industry

Enjoy lunch (our treat!) with fellow teachers. 

Then, during the industry visit, you’ll:

• tour a working life sciences facility
• connect with experts at an industry reception
• see firsthand what students can expect from life sciences careers

• science equipment for your classroom investigations

Please note that the event begins with registration at 8a ends at 6p – participants are expected to attend the full day including the tour and reception.
