Audition dates are Tuesday and Wednesday, June 9 and 10, 2026 at 6:00 PM at The Arts Center. Show dates for Mean Girls are August 21 - 30, 2026. 

The Mean Girls leadership team needs a cast of all backgrounds and genders, ages 16 and older. All performers should be strong dancers. Those auditioning for lead roles must be strong, experienced singers. For those auditioning for the ensemble, previous singing experience isn’t required. 

Mean Girls is rated PG-13 for language and adult themes, so please be advised.

Auditionees only need to bring comfy clothes and shoes (for movement), a good attitude, all schedules for the next few months, and their beautiful selves. The team will teach a song excerpt and a short dance combination during auditions.

Anyone who wants to help with the production in any capacity should attend auditions.

Everyone interested in being a part of the show will need to bring work, school, and family schedules for June 12 - August 30, 2026.

For those selected, callbacks will be Thursday, June 11, at 6:00 PM. 

Mean Girls is a high-energy stage musical based on the 2004 film, following Cady Heron, a former homeschooled student from Africa navigating the vicious social hierarchy of a Chicago public high school. Cady infiltrates the "Plastics"—led by queen bee Regina George—but loses herself to popularity before learning lessons about friendship and being true to oneself.

Athens Community Theatre Mainstage Series includes multigenerational productions, dramatic classics, and celebrated musicals, in our Sue E. Trotter Black Box Theater. Prices for ACT tickets range from $15 to $25. Patrons are encouraged to purchase tickets early, as ACT shows tend to sell out on, or before, show dates.
