The House of Lucie – Center for Photography gallery presents the exhibition Archives of Trauma, curated by Eleni Mouzakiti and Penelope Petsini. The exhibition is presented as part of the Women’s Photo Festival.
Thirteen artistic practices, thirteen different narratives, one common question: how can the image function as a vehicle for memory, testimony, and the processing of trauma?  The exhibition brings together works by female photographers from diverse geographical and cultural backgrounds, who explore trauma as both a personal experience and a collective historical footprint. Through photographic archives, family images, hybrid narratives, and visual interventions, the artists approach photography as a field where memory is reactivated and transformed. The traumatic experience thus appears as a process that continues to shape the present, affecting both personal stories and collective narratives. 

From the intergenerational memory of war and the traces of political conflict to the silent experiences of loss, illness, neurodiversity, and domestic violence, the works in the exhibition constitute a polyphonic field of personal and collective experiences. Through different methodologies and aesthetic strategies, the artists transform photography into a tool for memory, visibility, and care, creating a space for collective reflection on what often remains silenced or difficult to say. Their practices illuminate how trauma is inscribed on the body, in family history, and in collective memory, while highlighting the gendered dimensions of experience, care, and narration. Thus, through personal archives, testimonies, and visual reconstructions, memory is mapped in a space where the intimacy of personal experience meets broader historical and social conditions. Η γκαλερί House of Lucie – Center for Photography παρουσιάζει την έκθεση Archives of Trauma, σε επιμέλεια Ελένης Μουζακίτη και Πηνελόπης Πετσίνη. Η έκθεση παρουσιάζεται στο πλαίσιο του Women’s Photo Festival 

Δεκατρείς καλλιτεχνικές πρακτικές, δεκατρείς διαφορετικές αφηγήσεις, ένα κοινό ερώτημα: πώς μπορεί η εικόνα να λειτουργήσει ως φορέας μνήμης, μαρτυρίας και επεξεργασίας του τραύματος; Η έκθεση συγκεντρώνει έργα γυναικών φωτογράφων από διαφορετικές γεωγραφικές και πολιτισμικές αφετηρίες, οι οποίες διερευνούν το τραύμα τόσο ως προσωπική εμπειρία όσο και ως συλλογικό ιστορικό αποτύπωμα. Μέσα από φωτογραφικά αρχεία, οικογενειακές εικόνες, υβριδικές αφηγήσεις και εικαστικές επεμβάσεις, οι καλλιτέχνιδες προσεγγίζουν τη φωτογραφία ως ένα πεδίο όπου η μνήμη ενεργοποιείται εκ νέου και μετασχηματίζεται. Η τραυματική εμπειρία εμφανίζεται έτσι ως μια διαδικασία που συνεχίζει να διαμορφώνει το παρόν, επηρεάζοντας τόσο τις προσωπικές ιστορίες όσο και τις συλλογικές αφηγήσεις.

Από τη διαγενεακή μνήμη του πολέμου και τα ίχνη πολιτικών συγκρούσεων έως τις σιωπηλές εμπειρίες της απώλειας, της ασθένειας, της νευροδιαφορετικότητας και της οικογενειακής βίας, τα έργα της έκθεσης συγκροτούν ένα πολυφωνικό πεδίο προσωπικών και συλλογικών εμπειριών. Μέσα από διαφορετικές μεθοδολογίες και αισθητικές στρατηγικές, οι καλλιτέχνιδες μετατρέπουν τη φωτογραφία σε εργαλείο μνήμης, ορατότητας και φροντίδας, διαμορφώνοντας έναν χώρο συλλογικού στοχασμού γύρω από όσα συχνά παραμένουν αποσιωπημένα ή δύσκολα να ειπωθούν. Οι πρακτικές τους φωτίζουν πώς το τραύμα εγγράφεται στο σώμα, στην οικογενειακή ιστορία και στη συλλογική μνήμη, αναδεικνύοντας παράλληλα τις έμφυλες διαστάσεις της εμπειρίας, της φροντίδας και της αφήγησης. Έτσι, μέσα από προσωπικά αρχεία, μαρτυρίες και οπτικές ανασυνθέσεις, χαρτογραφείται η μνήμη σε έναν χώρο όπου η οικειότητα της προσωπικής εμπειρίας συναντά ευρύτερες ιστορικές και κοινωνικές συνθήκες.
