In the 1500th anniversary year of St. Brigid’s death, communities across Cavan celebrated by taking part in the "Bringing St. Brigid’s Cloak to Life" project.  The project, imagined by poet Bee Smith and artist Morag Donald, was brought to life with many helping hands which produced a cape of crafts and words, which was exhibited in Cavan County Museum in February 2025. Over two hundred individual pieces of feltwork, gelli print, embroidery and crochet adorn the outer cloak. The cloak’s lining has over a hundred prayers, blessings and poems written by school children and adults from across Cavan and beyond.

To celebrate its return to Cavan County Museum as a permanent display in 2026,  Research and Education Officer for County Cavan Museum, Catherine McGuinness, will give a talk on the project and the folklore surrounding St Brigid and Cavan.
