But, as an incredibly powerful web publishing platform, it takes some knowledge to truly get the best out of it and MadLab is here to give you a solid start.This two part hands-on workshop will guide you in how to set up a website created with the self-hosted version of WordPress. Participants will be taught how to add and edit their own content. Particiapnts will need to attend both Part One and Part Two.Who is this for?This workshop is suitable for total beginners, with no prior WordPress or website creation experience required. Perfect for those with a small business or who support charities/social enterprises and want to curate their online presence in an easy yet effective way.Participants will need to bring their own laptop (a tablet or mobile phone is not suitable) and must be confident using their device to navigate the internet, and save, edit, and manage files.What you will learn:- Overview of WordPress- Self-hosted versus WordPress.com- Websites, URLs and web domains- Familiarisation with the WordPress Dashboard- WordPress Blocks- Pages, Posts & Categories- WordPress Media Library- WordPress Comments- Next Steps, including themes, plugins and a showcase of different WordPress websites to demonstrate the possibilities.You will be provided with a live WordPress demo website (which will last for 30 days) so that you can jump straight into learning.About your facilitator:Claire Worthington has been working in digital for over 15 years, specialising in WordPress training for small businesses.
