Join the League of Women Voters of Ashtabula County for 'Democracy in Distress: Caring for Ourselves and Each Other,' an interactive community dialogue exploring how political polarization impacts our mental health, civic trust, and sense of belonging.
Facilitated by Jessica Leveto, PhD (Sociology) and Matt Butler (Social Work), this two-hour session invites participants to reflect, listen, and learn together using the locally developed Conversation Cards for Connection. Through guided dialogue and shared reflection, attendees will practice empathy, explore shared values, and identify small yet hopeful actions that strengthen community connections and civic resilience.
This program also launches the League’s upcoming “Year of Dialogues Across Difference” — a series of countywide conversations designed to help residents develop the habits of listening, curiosity, and care that sustain a healthy democracy.
Come ready to connect, reflect, and experience how dialogue can support both personal wellbeing and collective renewal.
