"description": "Northeast Ohio has been home to me my whole life and the best feature here (in my opinion) is our beautiful Lake Erie! Collecting beach glass has been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. I remember my mom bringing us to the beach often (we lived less than 5 minutes away from it) and instead of being excited about the playground equipment there, I was far more interested in exploring the beach and all the interesting treasures that had washed ashore. Of course, this included beach glass and that’s where my collection began. I also discovered a love and talent for the arts from this young age, which I gratefully inherited from my father who was a classical guitar maker and a brilliantly talented craftsman.Fast forward to what would be about 25 years ago and, having an impressive stockpile of beach glass, I decided one day that I wanted to try making something from these interesting little treasures. The internet wasn’t as accessible then as it is now, but with sheer determination and a lot of trial and error I taught myself how to drill beach glass and studied the intricate art of jewelry making. I quickly found this to be my niche and I’ve been in business ever since. I’ve come a long way since then of course and today I am incorporating a lot of metalworker with soldering. I've also added photo art with beach glass around 10 or so years ago, and for the past 8 years I teach classes where I instruct them to make photo art, I am so grateful to everyone whose supported me along the way. My mom has been by my side nearly this entire time. Together we set up vendor booths at countless festivals and craft shows. ( Mom still makes a top notch class assistant too. Just saying…) She has seen my struggles to keep my business alive at times, but with her support, I never fell discouraged enough to give up. And of course I am forever thankful for my customers and class attendees Who make it possible for me to do what I love and love what I do! Not everyone can say this and it’s why I take every customer interaction to heart. Whether a compliment, a critique, a passing comment, body language (I could go on and on…) I pay attention to it all and continue to adapt and grow with my art because of it. After all, my philosophy from day one was to make quality jewelry and artwork that is affordable and unique. In other words; if I would not wear the jewelry or proudly display the artwork I make then I will not offer it to the public for the sake of a sale. Because of my customers I will continue to grow and maintain the motivation to innovate my work as long as my business thrives."
