Come at 6pm to participate in the special waltz workshop presented by David Wallen and his dance partner, Regina. Regina & David have been advocates of dancing for many years and believe in making dancing available to everyone. -- The waltz they will teach has elements of ballroom waltz with an emphasis on social dancing, and without the stylized trappings of competition or exhibition. It will include frame and connection, the box step, progressive box step, turns, and time permitting another fun move.
Then stay for our regular contra dance which will include at least two waltzes, and possibly more, where you can practice your newly learned moves! Our favorite band from St. Louis, the Mound City Slickers will be providing the tunes and Jim Hemphill will be calling the dances.
Never tried contra dancing before? We welcome beginners! Come at 7pm for a contra dance lesson or refresher and be ready to join in when dancing officially starts at 7:30.
Our Ashland venue has a great dance floor, and the live music and calling shouldn't be missed. So we hope to see you there!
After the dance, feel free to join us for a social gathering at the hall. Bring a snack to share and your favorite beverage.
