🔥 A Touch of Fire Dance History
Fire dancing traces back to Polynesia — especially Samoa’s ailao afi, the traditional fire knife dance, and Hawaiian drum and dance traditions that honored ancestors, nature, and community.
Modern flow arts draw inspiration from these roots: rhythm, storytelling, and the shared experience of gathering around flame.
On Christmas Eve, our plaza circle becomes part of that lineage — celebrating warmth, connection, and light in the dark.

🔥 Weekly Fire Circle Guidelines
• Sign the waiver before you spin.
• Bring your own can of fuel and label it.
• Wear fire-safe clothing (natural fibers, fitted layers, no loose synthetics).
• Volunteer to safety after you spin — we keep each other protected.
• Bring your own props and check them before burning.
• Only 4 spinners in the circle at a time to keep flow smooth and safe.
• Always close the ammo can after pouring or dipping.
• Visibly intoxicated people will be asked to leave the fire circle — safety first, always.
✨ Open to all — performers, drummers, families, and holiday wanderers.
Let’s bring a little island warmth to the Ashland plaza and light up Christmas Eve together. 🌺🔥🌲
