Free Family Workshops begin at 11am
Open Folk Jam & Song Circle 12pm-2 PM · Concert Doors 2PM. Food trucks on site.  Live performances throughout the day. All are welcome.

Born in 1968 in a wooded ravine on the Northland College campus—where acoustic instruments echoed through the trees and strangers became bandmates by sunset—the Ashland Folk Festival has always been more than a concert. It is a gathering. A hand-to-hand passing of songs. A living piece of Chequamegon Bay cultural history.

On Saturday, May 16, 2026, that spirit returns in full voice at the historic Bohemian Hall, bringing together generations of musicians, families, students, and folk music lovers for a full day of music, learning, and community.

This year’s celebration features a powerful blend of nationally recognized roots artists, regional favorites, and emerging voices from the Lake Superior folk scene.

In keeping with the festival’s founding mission, the day will also include a free family folk workshop, along with an Open Folk Jam & Song Circle where musicians of all ages and abilities are invited to bring an instrument, share a tune, or simply join in.

From its Ravine beginnings to its modern home in downtown Ashland, the Ashland Folk Festival has served as a launching point for regional artists, a meeting place for traditional and contemporary folk styles, and a springtime homecoming for the Lake Superior acoustic community as well as Northland College Alumni. The 2026 festival honors that legacy while welcoming a new generation into the circle. Whether you come to listen, learn, dance, or play, you are part of the festival.
