Bruce will discuss physical spaces and his response to the urban environment.About this EventBRUCE REYNOLDS is a multi-disciplinary artist whose migrant background is English and Nigerian. He grew up in Canberra, studied in Melbourne and has lectured in painting, photography inter-media and sculpture, with a doctorate awarded in 2019 for “The Persistence of Relief”.He has made trips to China, Bangladesh, Malta, England, Germany and Italy to pursue an interest in the historic migration of ideas and forms linking Europe and Asia. His practice responds to the urban environment using its materiality to evoke a dialogue between recent histories and the archaic.He completed an architectural scaled relief at North Quay Brisbane in 2025 and won the Woollahra Sculpture Prize In 2022.His current exhibitions include How Soon Is Now? (touring) and Metamorphosis at Hota, Surfers Paradise.Recently, ReMake Remodel  was at Canberra Contemporary in 2024 and in 2022 Time Machine at the National library of Australia, Canberra Art Biennial and 2.5D at Schmick with Genevieve Reynolds.He is represented in the collections of the Queensland Art Gallery, Museum of Brisbane, Canberra Museum and Gallery, Artbank, QUT, Griffith and UQ Art Museums, and regional art galleries.Bruce will discuss the following :Physical spaces:The base, the podium, where we live, the studio, public space, shared and hopeful spaces.He will also address aspects of his Biography and influences: then and now.From Wynnum to Rome, with Rauschenberg and Johns, Bernini and Borromini, Monahan and Houseago .His touring show, How Soon is Now?  is currently at Redcliffe Art Gallery https://www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au/Galleries-Museums/Events/RAG/How-Soon-Is-Nowand afterwards moves to Caloundra Regional Gallery, QLDOpening Event: 22nd MayViewing dates:22 May – 22 June 2026workshops to be advised.
