Sustainable Dining Summit
UNC Asheville invites dining services professionals from higher education institutions throughout the Southeast and Southern Appalachian region to join us for a Sustainable Dining Summit on our campus.
This highly interactive event will include sessions by leading higher education institutions, an in-depth look at various sustainability certifications and campaigns, cooking demonstrations, peer-to-peer networking, food sampling, and tangible best practices to bring back to your institution.
Regular sessions will take place all day on Friday, March 15th and the morning of Saturday, March 16th. A presentation by the founders and owners of Highland Brewing on Friday evening will be followed by a local food reception. Optional tours on Saturday afternoon will visit leading sustainable food producers in the Asheville area, including French Broad Chocolate Lounge, Hickory Nut Gap Farm, and No Evil Foods plant-based meats. All tours will culminate at Asheville's original craft brewery, Highland Brewing Company.
