Discover animal, vegetable and mineral sources such as the roots, leaves and flowers of plants and trees, precious stones, bug parts, charred bones and other natural materials that have historically been used to make paint, inks, dyes and food colorants, including those which are traditional to Southern Appalachia. Make paint using colored earth pigments and natural binders.This program will take place outside and will follow easy trails and paved walkways. Dress for the weather and prepare to be outside for the entire program time.Rebeccah Cope is an artist-naturalist, environmental educator, and retired park ranger who lives in western NC. She was the founding manager of Historic Yates Mill County Park in Raleigh, NC and program director for several parks. She has developed programs and exhibits, organized events, and managed social media. She offers nature programs through several venues and is certified in Basic First Aid and CPR.
