Are you looking for a new way to capture your collage ideas and use some of the supplies stockpiled in your craft cabinet? If so, here’s your chance to create a unique little art journal with items you likely already have.
In this playful, half-day class, mixed media artist Kim Smith will start by teaching you some creative collage techniques to get your inspiration flowing. Then, you’ll learn the basics of selecting, layering, and properly adhering multiple mediums (fabric, paint, pictures, sheet music, messages, book pages, and more) to create a cohesive, colorful, layered little folding book. Kim will also teach you how to apply basic principles of design and color selection to finish and enhance your work. Finally, you’ll learn tips for incorporating mixed-media into your daily life and how to use mini journals to celebrate opportunities and work through challenges.
This workshop is great for people who have never created a mixed media piece, but it also gives more experienced artists an opportunity to explore new techniques and best practices. Students of all levels have found success working with Kim—and they’ve had a ton of fun doing it!
No previous drawing, painting, or collaging experience necessary!
