This project has been operating for a few years and the volunteers will speak on their own experiences and compare data from 2026 and past years of surveys. Bring your own lunch, no food will be provided.Emily Stanley taught life science and environmental education in Maryland for 35 years before moving to Asheville. She has partnered with state biodiversity projects in Maryland and North Carolina, researched bog turtles in Yancey County, NC, and has master southeastern herpetologist certification through the Amphibian Foundation. Emily's volunteer activities at the NC Arboretum include Willow Pond docent and gardening, EcoExplore, and herp monitoring.Marcy Koch last held the position as Educator and Manager of School and Teacher Programs for the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, FL for 10 years before moving to Asheville in 2020. She grew up spending time in the forests, meadows and waterways of PA where her curiosity, deep listening and love of things wild was shaped. Marcy’s volunteer activities at the NC Arboretum began with supporting EcoExplore and now as a Willow Pond docent and as part of the herp monitoring team. She values eco-learning environments available to all in the community, supported by authentic connection and the care and deep love of nature and all its inhabitants.Eric Tiger is a retired Diagnostic Radiologist. He has always enjoyed the outdoors and his family always referred to him as “nature boy.” Eric moved to Asheville from New Jersey in 2019 and discovered the NC Arboretum where he obtained his Blue Ridge Naturalist certification.
