Five Prana Ayurveda Workshop: Herbal Tea, Golden Milk, Mantra & Mandalas
Ayurveda teaches us that food is the best medicine and that foods have the power to heal. Explore tea blending and Ayurvedic mindfulness practices to bring balance to the mind, body and spirit.
This workshop focuses on blending our own herbal teas, making the healing Ayurvedic drink golden milk/mylk, and Ayurvedic mindfulness practices to calm the mind, body and spirit. Ayurveda teaches us how important it is to imbue to the food you cook with healing energy and that we should have a positive mental state when we cook food for ourselves and our families. When we are happy, the food we cook is permeated with happiness and positivity. Conversely, when we are upset and angry, the food we cook is infused with anger and hatred. We will learn different forms of Ayurvedic meditation along with healing mantras to chant during meditation as well as when we are cooking so that we can create more nourishing food. We will also discover Ayurvedic mindfulness practices that extends meditation beyond just the silent seated practice, allowing our daily actions to be a moving meditation.
This workshop features a hands-on approach where participants will blend their own Ayurvedic herbal teas. The workshop will begin with an mini-meditation to center the body and calm the mind and will be followed by a cleansing ritual for the hands. You will then take a dosha quiz to discover your dosha. Next you will then learn which herbal teas are best for each dosha as well as the medicinal and healing powers of the commonly used herbs in Ayurvedic tea. We will learn how to make tea blends for different mealtimes as well as teas that are beneficial for everyday ailments like headaches, sinus congestion and digestive upset. We will also make the healing drink golden milk together as a group so that you will be able to recreate the recipe at home. You will touch, smell and taste each herb in the used in Ayurvedic tea blending so that you will begin to understand their unique flavor profiles. Afterwards, you will create your own tea blend along with an herbal chai blend so that you can enjoy Ayurvedic tea at home. We will then enjoy some Ayurvedic herbal tea and discuss Ayurvedic meditation and mindfulness practices including the coloring of mandalas. As a group, we will illustrate mandalas together and you will use your mandala as an adornment for your tea packaging.
