In Beginning Botany we’ll explore how plants handle these daily challenges using and modifying only leaves, stems, and roots. We’ll cover the basics of plant structure and function.Alexandra Holland has a passion for getting people excited about the natural world through classes, hikes, and photography. She graduated from Duke University and earned her master’s degree in botany from the University of Texas at Austin. While in Texas, Alexandra managed the UTEX Culture Collection of Algae at UT Austin and volunteered with education programs at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Upon moving to Asheville, she began volunteering with the NC Arboretum’s youth education programs. In 2008 she was in the first class of students to be certified as Blue Ridge Naturalists.
