Sewing by hand is the foundation of mending, altering, and creating clothing like a professional. In this workshop you will be introduced to the tools of the trade as well as to the 5 most commonly used hand stitches (the running/basting stitch, the back stitch, the whip/hem stitch, the slip/tunnel/invisible stitch, and the catch stitch). You will come away with hands-on experience and the knowledge you need to become an excellent sewist. All supplies will be provided. No experience is necessary.About the Instructor:Lauren (she/they) is the owner of Asbury Alterations. They have a background in costume design for theatre and over 18 years of sewing experience. Lauren received their MFA in Costume Design & Technology from West Virginia University in 2017 where they completed advanced coursework in everything from creating Elizabethan style gowns to hand tailoring modern day suits from scratch.
