Spring Fling Square Dance (plus Beginner Two-Step Dance Workshop)

Join us for our annual Spring Fling Square Dance. This is a family-friendly event, accessible to all ages and skill levels–no experience needed. And thanks to funding from Try This WV, this square dance is FREE! (Or consider a $5-$10 donation to help support the continuation of programs like these.)

Be sure and arrive early for our Beginner Two-Step Dance Workshop before the square dance. This is taught by Morgantown dance instructors David and Amy Loomis of All Things Swing and funded by Your Community Foundation.

6pm-7pm: Beginner Two-Step Dance Workshop
7pm-9pm: Spring Fling Square Dance (called by Taylor Runner and music by Half Past Four)


Health Benefits of Square Dancing:

1. Exercise – Square dancing is a low-impact exercise that has been shown to slow heart rate and lower blood pressure. You can burn up to 400 calories for every 30 minutes of dancing.

2. Coordination – Learning new square dance figures on the spot increases your ability to recognize patterns through mind-body coordination. You’ve got to think on your feet!

3. Heritage – Square dances have been happening at Arthurdale since the 1930s. You become part of Arthurdale’s legacy by participating in our square dances.

4. Community – Square dancing can help increase your self-esteem and sense of belonging by bringing folks of all ages together. You can’t square dance by yourself!
