The Eastern Ontario Firefighter Association (EOFA) hosts an annual convention, commonly known as the Firefighter Games, which brings together fire departments from across Eastern Ontario. Firefighters travel from communities including Athens, Augusta, Beckwith, Cardinal, Carleton Place, Iroquois, Mississippi Mills, Merrickville, Montague, Mountain, Prescott, Smiths Falls, and Winchester to compete.

Teams compete in 10 physically demanding, skill-based events, divided into five “Dry” events and five “Wet” events. Dry events focus on strength, endurance, and coordination, including challenges such as ladder climbs and hose connections. Wet events involve water operations and simulate real fireground tasks, such as charging hose lines and hitting designated targets. Together, these events showcase the strength, teamwork, and professionalism of firefighters while creating a fun, family-friendly community event.

The Games will be held at a large outdoor venue designed to safely accommodate competitors, spectators, and families. Admission is free and open to the public. Donations are always welcome and appreciated.

A Proud History

Established over a century ago, the Eastern Ontario Firefighter Convention has been held for 113 years, making them one of the oldest and longest-running firefighter competitions in the country. In 2026, Pakenham will proudly host the 114th EOFA Games, continuing a historic tradition that honours generations of firefighters and their service to the community.
