About the event

UNVEILING OF THE BAMBOO TIPI INSTALLATION
The Canopy Spirits team harvested premium local bamboo to construct an incredible tipi-like structure. This 3-D creative design was engineered by James Wolf, an international bamboo master builder and designer, bringing his skills to the sacred grounds of Arnaudville. The local builder’s team, Joshua Romero, Brittany Menard & Kathleen Whitehurst, worked with 15 other workshop participants to construct the tipi. Designed with intention, the tipi serves as both a striking visual landmark and a sacred space for meditation, gathering, storytelling, music, and reflection, surrounded by the beauty of farmland. The public is invited to participate, photograph, and be embraced by this magical circular space. Join us for the unveiling ceremony led by an elder of the Chitimacha Indian Tribe of Breaux Bridge to share education on the value of nature, plants, prairies, and forests of our precious land that we are preserving.

Free and open to the public.

10 AM-2 PM
In the White Box Space, through painting, sculpture, photography, textile, film, and installation, member artists — both emerging and established — trace the visible and invisible connections that define Louisiana’s creative landscape, exploring how art binds people to land, language, and memory, both locally and internationally. Interwoven highlights the ways in which cultural expression — like the roots beneath our feet — sustains communities through resilience, creativity, and care.

In the Living Room Gallery, the exhibition Louisiana Grass Roots, this presentation extends the dialogue from field and fabric to identity and belonging — connecting local experience to global context.

In the Marketplace, visitors can get a first look at Acadiana Brown Cotton, NUNU’s newest resident organization. Their upcoming ribbon-cutting ceremony in December will officially launch their new display and educational space — a vibrant addition that brings Louisiana’s rich fiber traditions full circle, from field to fabric.

And as always, the Deux Bayous Gallery continues to feature local artists and artisans — though exciting changes are on the horizon. Stay tuned for the unveiling of a reimagined Deux Bayous Gallery in the coming months, designed to expand opportunities for creative expression and sustainability.

Together, these exhibitions and initiatives reveal the unseen, the unspoken, and the enduring artistry that keeps Louisiana’s creative landscape alive — proof that in Arnaudville, creativity is both rooted and ever-growing.
