500 Hour • 12 Month Immersion
Commencing 1 August 2026
Kookaburra Yoga Sanctuary • Perth Hills
In person & online

There comes a point where the practice of yoga begins to deepen and take on a different significance. What may have begun as a weekly class gradually becomes part of how we live, how we understand ourselves, and how we meet the world. Attention becomes more focused, and there is a quiet sense that there is more to explore within the teachings which sit beneath the practice.

The Roots of Yoga Teacher Training has been developed for those who find themselves in this place. This is a 12 month, 500 hour program offering a comprehensive and integrated education in yoga, meditation, and yogic living.

Developed by Mandy Knox over more than 30 years of study, practice, and teaching, the training draws from the Hatha Yoga of Krishnamacharya and the Raja Yoga of Swami Sivananda, together with the broader philosophical traditions of yoga including Tantra and Vedanta.

The approach is integrative, where practice, philosophy, and teaching evolve together. Each area of study is brought into direct experience so that what is learnt becomes embodied and relevant within daily life and, where appropriate, within teaching.

For some, this training becomes a pathway into teaching. For others, it supports a deepening of personal practice, or an integration of yogic understanding into an existing professional field.

TRAINING OVERVIEW

Across the year, the curriculum includes:

• Study of classical texts including the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, and Upanishads
• Asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra, and Yoga Nidra
• Subtle body theory: koshas, chakras, nadis, prana
• Yoga psychology and the workings of the mind
• Trauma-informed communication and teaching
• Sequencing, class design, and teaching methodology
• Dynamic anatomy and physiology
• Personal practice development and integration

The training supports the development of a consistent and meaningful personal practice, a deep understanding of yoga, and the skills required to teach with clarity, sensitivity, and confidence.

The program is delivered over 12 months through a combination of in-studio immersion, online learning, and supervised teaching experience.
