The Good Guy Challenge is a four-race series hosted at participating NHRA South Central Division member tracks. At the end of the season, overall champions are crowned in both the Super Pro and Pro Footbrake categories. Champions receive the prestigious Hammer Award—a custom leather Champion’s jacket honoring Dale Hamm, the original D4 Director and inspiration behind the “Good Guy” title—along with a Champion’s Wally.
Participation in the program is completely free. To be eligible, racers must hold a valid NHRA membership and competition number.

17-car minimum with at least 5 rounds to qualify
Event points must be submitted within two weeks of completion
Points awarded from quarterfinals onward:
- Winner: 32 points
- Runner-Up: 31 points
- Semi-Finalist: 20 points
- Quarter-Finalist: 10 points
