The Super Bowl Shuffle is a throwback to 1985 when local NorFla luminaries had already been riding local limerock roads. For a decade. On roadbikes. With 21-23c tires.
So this is a mixed surface event in that tradition, meaning it has the most road & least gravel of any NFFGS event and therefore the only one in our series for which - depending on conditions - we might actually favor a road bike. Today's local luminaries have ridden all these sectors on modern and vintage road bikes.
The route features 12 dirt road sectors over 93 miles. Bring your gravel bike with extra watts or prepare to shuffle through any number of long paved & chipseal sectors. Bring your roadbike with some skills or prepare to shuffle through the genuinely tiny amounts of sand (at least by local standards). Bring a mountain bike and...we'll see you at game time.
Route files will be posted in the GCC Members Area the week of event (see our pinned post on NFFGS main page).
NFFGS guidelines for all our events:
* The organizers make no claims as to the surface or traffic conditions of any route. We post the maps, you decide to ride.
* These are open public roads with all the hazards included thereon. Know your skills, know your physical limits. Ride at YOUR OWN risk.
* We recommend always riding with a 50+ lumen rear flasher in daytime.
