Non-profit Valley In Motion in partnership with the Archbald Borough Colliery Committee is hosting an interactive community meeting at the Archbald Borough Council Chambers at 400 Church Street, Archbald on Thursday August 14th from 6-8p. This meeting is focused on gathering community feedback from our Archbald neighbors on how we can invest in two historical buildings near the Laurel Street trailhead to the Lackawanna Heritage Trail.
The Shifting Shanty and Fan House are remnants of the coal era in Archbald and have been left in disrepair. There is a great opportunity, though, to repurpose these buildings. From business ideas that drive the local economy to gathering spaces that bring the community together, we want to hear from you!
This meeting will encourage attendees to reach back to childhood memories of connection and joy, then create models for how these historic buildings can bring those past moments to life today. In partnership with the Archbald Borough Council and Archbald Neighborhood Association, VIM is looking to spur joy and connection while preserving the unique characteristics that make Archbald such a beautiful place.
To learn more about this effort, visit Valley In Motion’s project page on their website, or check out their Facebook page. You can also follow the Gravity Slope Colliery page or Archbald Neighborhood Association page on Facebook.
No registration required. Light refreshments will be provided while available.
