Painting the Past

Very excited to bring this event to you all alongside the amazingly talented Kate Cunningham, local artist and art tutor. ‘Painting the Past’ is part of the Angus Outdoor Festival happening 6-15th June 2025. Unearth the artistic soul of Scotland’s dramatic coastline on a unique workshop combining geology and plain air painting amidst the breathtaking Auchmithie Cliffs. Discover the ancient stories etched into the Old Red Sandstone, learning to ‘read’ the landscape with a geologist’s eye. Then, inspired by the raw beauty and profound history beneath your feet, translate the rugged textures, dynamic light, and vibrant hues onto your canvas. This isn’t just a workshop, it’s an immersive journey into the heart of natures artistry, inviting you to connect deeply with the land and express it through your own art. The experience is accessible to beginners in both fields and suited to all levels of physical ability with a mild walk. Materials are provided and there will be time for tea/coffee/biscuits at the hall. Total duration time: 4 hours 13:00-17:00.
